The Bvumba area referred to as the “Mountains in the Mist”, is one of incredible natural beauty with wooded evergreen montane forests and mountains disappearing into the blue haze in the distance. These highlands are packed with activities, both adventurous and more sedate and relaxing.
The Vumba Botanical Garden is renowned for its large tree ferns and tropical landscaping. The 159 hectares is beautifully landscaped with streams leading to a small lake.
The network of sheltered footpaths leads you through indigenous tree ferns and cycads, beds of hydrangeas, azaleas and stunning proteas. You will also find begonias, aloes, fuschias and lilies dotted around the garden, ensuring that there is something of interest throughout the year to offer enjoyment.
For the golfing enthusiasts, or visitors looking for another stunning view, Leopard Rock Hotel boasts a championship-rated golf course and the only casino in the area. The golf course is open for walkers to take in the water hazards, streams and challenging terrain. A very pleasant walk.
An unmissable excursion is to Tony’s Coffee Shop. Found at the 24km peg on the Bvumba Road they are famous for their delicious cakes, an incredible range of tea flavours, coffees and rich chocolate drinks. A truly decadent experience.

The City of Mutare, which is 10 minutes drive away, provides a little culture with museums and galleries to visit as well as a second quality golf course and a municipal nature reserve showcasing African plains game.
